About Chris
Focusing on what matters for the state of Queensland
Chris Simpson is a skilled tradesman, builder, project manager, and advocate for real-world experience in politics. As a Democracy First / Fusion candidate for the Senate, he believes career politicians must be replaced by people who understand the challenges faced by everyday Australians. Coming from humble beginnings, Chris started his career as an apprentice Fitter & Machinist at 16, laying the foundation for a diverse and accomplished career in construction, project management, and education. Now, he is stepping forward to give back to the community and fight for meaningful reforms that will secure Australia’s future.
Real-World Experience, Real Solutions
Chris has worked across construction, education, major infrastructure, and community service, giving him practical leadership skills that Canberra needs.
- Trade & Construction: A qualified Fitter & Machinist initially and later Cert IV in Building (licensed builder QLD), Chris understands the skilled trades shortage and the barriers young Australians face in entering the industry.
- Education & Training: As a workplace trainer and assessor, he is passionate about reforming vocational education by integrating TAFE and high school (VET) training.
- Major Projects & Infrastructure: With a Master’s in Project Management from QUT, Chris has led mega projects in oil & gas, mining, and nuclear industries, including:
✅ Supervising the Lucas Heights research nuclear reactor (2003-2004).
✅ 5.5 years on the $34 billion INPEX Project in Darwin. - Community & Volunteer Work: Chris has dedicated time to food programs, community gardens, and not-for-profit boards.
With hands-on experience in industry, training, and community service, Chris knows how to build industries, create jobs, and drive real change.
A Call for Strong Leadership
Chris firmly believes that ignoring global economic shifts will be at Australia’s peril. The nation must adapt, innovate, and take control of its own future. His leadership is based on practical experience, not political rhetoric—the kind of leadership Canberra desperately needs.
